It’s a software to make an e-commerce and manage a online shop. We can download here:
The next step is unzip file, we upload the files to our hosting server. When it’s finished, we open de browser, we search our domain and we can see the first screen of installation. This screen chooses the browser language, but we can change it.
The next screen are terms and conditions, we accept the conditions and click in next button.
Now we can configurate our shop, we must write our information like shop name, our activity and country. We also must write are our user information with a password. To finish we click at next button.
The next step is to create a database, once the database is created, we must remember the name of the database, the user of the database and the password.
Once the database is created, we put the previous data in the prestashop installation screen and after checking the connection with the database, if everything is correct, we press the following button.
The next screen that will appear will be the installation of the store. Once the installation is complete, a screen will appear advising that everything has been installed correctly.
In the front office we can see products, this is because Prestashop generate demo products and content.
To install templates, we are going to use prestashop tools, the first step is search a template, then we download this and unzip the file. Then we go to the prestashop and go to the preferences> topics section and click on the “add theme” button.
Now we look for our theme and select the file that is compressed and click on open. Finally, we just have to give the button “save” and our template will start to install.
Once the template is installed, we must activate it so that it can be seen in the front office.
FIRST STEPS TO INSTALL PRESTASHOP
The first step is to deactivate the store so that nobody can access while we make the modifications. To carry out this action we access the prestashop in preferences> maintenance, in this window we see two options:
Activate Shop -> we choose no
Maintenance IP-> here we put our IP so that we can access the page and see the changes made.
To know our IP, we enter here:
The next step is to delete the test content, which includes:
- products and their …
- order messages
- customer shopping trolleys
- price range
- range of weights
- contact and stores (eliminating them or adapting them to the needs of your business)
- CMS pages (eliminating them or adapting them to the needs of your business)
We can create pages with static content (CMS), for this we go to the section preferences> CMS, in this page we can manage our CMS pages, that is, we can modify the pages already created or create new pages.
The next thing is to configure the top menu of our store, for this we will use the module “top horizontal menu”, here we can add the categories that we want to show, eliminate those we do not want to use, or add or remove CMS at our whim.
